"The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand."
The Universe is vast and it may not even have any limits. It could be growing right now, new galaxies and stars care being born every second. New planets beyond our sights may harbor life. There could be more life harboring planets than we could imagine. However, that is all just a thought. We might be the only living things ever created. Any other place could have a problem that prevents life from flourishing. Are we the only living things in this cold, dark, possibly lifeless universe? We humans say that we are superior. But in this large room that holds so many things could contain things greater than our minds. I know a lot of things. Thoughts and facts, passed down from one individual to another. Sharing opinions and beliefs... That's how we learn and grow. That's why we're still alive. That's why we have all kinds of pieces of technology right in our grasps. Inventors, technicians, engineers, librarians, programmers, teachers, everyone contributes to life. We learn from one another. Even people with no jobs, we look and observe. We see the effects of carelessness. We are not taking full advantage of our advantages. We must remember, we might be the only living things in this universe. So we should keep that right and instead of destroying one another, we should join our souls together and all work together to find a new planet that could harbor life, and it could possibly be our new home.

The totem pole is something that Cole Mathews has been working on for a long period of time. After dancing the dance of anger, he pondered on what to put on the totem pole that would represent anger. It had almost been a year and he still did not have anything in that spot.
At the bottom of the totem pole I would put a fist. The reason why I would put a fist is because a clenched fist would represent a fight o warning in most cases. If someone were to to show a fist at you, then it would most likely be a warning to keep a distance. Anger is usually unconrollable, and it makes youdo things that you normally wouldn't do. These kinds of acts include punching, screaming, swearing and hating everyone. I feel like a fist would represent anger well. ~Martin Zukowski Cyber bullying is terrible. If you get a text from a stranger saying something like, "You're ugly", then how would you feel? What would you think? What should you do? These are questions that many people think about when they receive texts like these.
In the movie "Cyber bully" , Taylor gets bullied after rumours start spreading about her. The rumours spread quickly and soon, the entire school knows about the rumour. This part of the movie shows just how fast rumours can spread and it also shows the effects of the rumours. After countless days of constant cyber bullying, Taylor finally gives up and she tries to kill herself using pills. There are several occasions like this all over the country. People try to suicide all the time because they feel like the entire country is turning against them. In the end, the victim usually gives up and sadly, they commit suicide. The worst part about cyber bullying is that you can't see the face of the bully. That means that the bully is anonymous. That means that the bully could actually be your best friend! In the movie, the cyber bully is actually Taylor's best friend. The reasons why people might cyber bully is very stupid. Sometimes it might be because of jealousy, and other times it might be because they want to embarrass the other person. Sometimes, people cyber bully just because they feel like it. Please stop cyber bullying everyone. What is the point of Circle of Justice? Some may ask. The point of Circle Justice is to heal. Healing is difficult. A lot more harder than punishing. However, if you work harder, you usually get a better result. That is how Circle Justice thinks. Healing includes forgiveness. Forgiving may be hard to some people. That's because forgiving is like admitting to defeat, and let's be honest, not that many people would admit to defeat. Cole is one of those people. He hates almost everything, and he surely would hate to admit to defeat. Cole met a person that asked Cole if he wanted to join Circle Justice. Cole figured that it might take him out of jail, so Cole joined, however, he never thought of actually forgiving.
Punishment is worse than forgiving. Punishment just makes the person harder, it makes the person infuriated, it would make a person even worse than before. Hate would grow on the offender. The offender would do even more violent things every time. That is why it often fails. Healing on the other hand, creates peace. Both the victim and the offender often end up content, there would be no hate, and it would make society a lot better. That is what Circle Justice aims to do, and that is what I think we should also aim to do. We should heal. Greg Mortenson is a hero. He may not be extremely famous, or even rich. However, his hopes, dreams, and accomplishments are enough to classify him as a hero.
Greg Mortenson began his journey when he decided to climb K2 in his sister's honour. However, he had gotten lost when he was climbing the great mountain. Greg instead wandered into a village called Korphe. That was when he had met Haji Ali. Haji Ali was the chief of Korphe. Haji Ali had taken care of Greg. In return, Greg gave a couple of things he had, and he promised to Haji Ali that he would build a school for Korphe after seeing kids learning in a field with only a twig and mud. As I said earlier, Greg isn't that rich, so getting the school built was a great challenge. Greg basically sold everything he had for some money. In the end a millionaire named Gene Horney heard about Greg and he donated all the money that Greg needed. Greg got to work very quickly, however, he soon encountered a problem... After many years, Greg got married, Haji Ali died, and the school was built. Greg had made a company called the C.A.I. Everything Greg did in this time of his life was always for the people in need. That is what a what a hero would do. A hero helps people in need, and a hero would do the thing that is right no matter what it might do to themselves. Greg Mortenson fits right into those rules perfectly, that is why I think that Greg Mortenson is the hero that we all should look up to. Thank you, Greg. |
